The biggest mistake I have ran into when planning the birthday freebies I wanted to participate in is waiting until my birthday rolls around to start looking. A little planning can make a huge difference and help you make the most of your birthday month!
1. Plan Ahead
Not every rewards program works the same! Some may give you your birthday freebie on the spot, but others may require sign up weeks before your birthday or require a qualifying purchase before you’re eligible. About two months before your birthday, spend a little time browsing the offers that interest you and sign up early. There’s nothing worse than finding the perfect freebie only to realize you missed the deadline to sign up.
2. Organize Your Freebies
Once you are signed up and ready for the rewards to start rolling in, make a game plan! Separate out the offers by birthday month and birthday day. That makes it much easier to prioritize the rewards with the shortest expiration dates first. Some places may not give you the offer until the day of your birthday, but you may have up to a month to use it. Additionally, if your offer requires purchase, you can stock away a few extra dollars before hand.
If your birthday falls toward the end of the month, don’t feel like you have to squeeze it all into one weekend! Many rewards are available your entire birthday month, so spread them out and enjoy them at your own pace.
3. Make It Fun!
Your birthday freebies are more than just saving money. They’re a fun excuse to try a new restaurant, grab your favorite coffee, treat yourself to dessert, or spend time with friends and family. Turn it into a birthday adventure!
